A kitchen display system that follows preparation.

Give the kitchen and bar a clear view of the work assigned to each station. MenuSnap kitchen display system (KDS) shows dishes, options and notes, with waiting, preparing and ready states so the team can follow preparation. Access, station routing and an internet connection must be configured.

Give each kitchen station a clear view of the dishes it needs to prepare.

  2. Connect the right team
  3. Prepare the ticket

Station views, item details and ticket history

Station-based kitchen board

The board separates work to start, work in preparation and tickets ready for pickup. Staff can select available stations according to their restaurant access.

Item details and readiness

Tickets show item details, order notes and added items. Item-level actions let the kitchen update preparation without treating a stopped preparation item as a refunded charge.

History and screen settings

Review ticket history and adjust available display settings, such as text size and new-order sound, for the kitchen workstation.

How does the kitchen follow preparation?

Workflow illustration
  1. Waiting

    Review the station’s tickets

  2. Preparing

    Follow items, options and notes

  3. Ready

    Hand preparation over to service

Shown for a configured station with KDS enabled. Marking food ready does not collect payment or settle the table.

  1. Choose the production stations

Decide which kitchen or bar stations need a screen. An authorised administrator enables KDS for the required stations; new stations do not start with KDS automatically enabled.

  2. Connect the right team

Open the kitchen workspace for the correct restaurant and sign in with permitted staff access. Check station assignments and the screen’s network connection.

  3. Prepare the ticket

Review items, options, notes and any added items. Move the ticket from waiting to preparation and mark items or the ticket ready as work progresses.

  4. Follow up completed work

Use ticket history to review preparation records. A kitchen action concerns preparation; bill changes, refunds and table settlement remain in the relevant staff workflow.

What must be enabled for KDS?

Compare all plans
  • KDS needs a plan with access, an enabled production station and appropriate staff permissions. A successful login does not prove that any station is configured to receive tickets.
  • KDS and kitchen printing are separate station settings. You can plan a screen workflow, a paper workflow or both; check routing so staff do not prepare the same item twice.
  • Cloud kitchen updates need the relevant network connection. Restore the connection and check the latest ticket state before continuing kitchen actions.
  • Marking preparation ready does not by itself collect payment or complete every front-of-house action. Keep the handoff to service and the table’s billing workflow clear.

Before you start, you may want to know.

Why is my kitchen board empty after login?

Check the selected restaurant, enabled KDS stations, staff access and whether eligible orders have reached those stations. KDS is not automatically enabled for a new station.

Can the bar and kitchen use different views?

Production stations and staff assignments determine the available work. Configure the stations for the preparation areas your restaurant actually uses.

Can I use printing without KDS?

Yes. Kitchen printing and KDS have independent settings. A restaurant can use configured printing without enabling a kitchen screen.

Does stopping preparation remove an item from the bill?

No. A kitchen preparation action is distinct from a billing adjustment. Follow the POS approval and payment process for any charge correction.
