Restaurant Order Workflow: Service, POS and Kitchen

After a guest orders, staff need clear information at the till and in the kitchen. MenuSnap keeps the table, dishes, options and notes together through POS handling and the KDS or printing routes your restaurant has configured.

Keep personal serviceStaff can take orders and manage them according to their permissions.
Clear details for the kitchenOrders can move to KDS or printing by setup.
Operational gaps

One order, clear information for each role

Service staff answer questions, the cashier checks the bill and the kitchen prepares the dishes. Shared order details reduce the need to copy choices or repeat notes between those roles.

Cashier and order handling

Staff can take orders, record payments and make changes or refunds according to permissions, with related actions kept against the order.

Kitchens need clear tickets

Items, options, notes and timing details stay with the order, reducing handwritten copies and repeated verbal checks.

Paper with a defined purpose

Kitchen tickets guide preparation; customer receipts support payment and record keeping. Their content and print destination depend on the restaurant’s setup.

Workflow

From creating an order to preparation, payment and shift review

1

Order is created

A guest submits an order by QR, or staff enter it at the POS.

2

Confirm and manage

Staff accept orders, make adjustments or handle exceptions according to store rules and account permissions.

3

Route and prepare

The order reaches KDS or printing and is distributed through the configured stations and print routes.

4

Take payment and review

Staff confirm and record payment, print receipts where needed, handle authorized refunds and review shift records.

How MenuSnap helps

POS, kitchen displays and printing each have a role

Use compatible devices and configure payment channels, kitchen stations and printing for the selected plan. Each team continues its work from the same order.

Restaurant POS

Staff take orders, record cash or separate terminal payments and handle refunds and shifts according to permissions. Confirm payment success on the terminal before recording it: the record itself does not charge the card.

Kitchen display system

The kitchen views orders assigned to its station and advances preparation status. The kitchen function must be enabled and stations and terminals configured before use.

Kitchen tickets and customer receipts

Set print rules, templates and destinations for each document’s purpose. Available workflows depend on compatible printers, the execution method and restaurant configuration.

FAQ

Restaurant order workflow questions

Does this workflow include every enterprise POS feature?

No. MenuSnap focuses on QR ordering, POS, kitchen displays, printing, payments and menu management. Complex POS or accounting integrations require a separate assessment.

Can staff still use card terminals?

Confirm that payment succeeded on the separate card terminal before recording it in MenuSnap. Recording a payment does not charge the card. Stripe, Redsys and Bizum availability depends on your plan, country and activated merchant account. Check your store settings and enabled payment channels for actual availability.

Does printing work with existing printers?

You can use compatible printers. The model, connection, execution method and store settings determine which print workflows are available.

Can orders be routed by kitchen station?

Orders can move to KDS or printing workflows, with preparation routed by station where configured.
